Thorn in the side

Jason Bay had the big blow -- the two-run homer, but Boston rookie CF Jacoby Ellsbury showed just how important he can be to the Red Sox, and how problematic for the Angels.
He had three hits, knocked in an insurance run with a single in the ninth inning, then scored the fourth run, and stole two bases.
But one of the fastest players in baseball also made the best defensive play of the game -- sprinting from deep center field to make a sprawling, diving catch of Mark Teixeira's shallow fly leading off the eighth inning with the score still 2-1.
Vlad Guerrero followed with a single, and Torii Hunter followed THAT with a bloop single to right. Could have been three hits in a row and a tie game.
Instead, there was one out when Hunter singled, and two outs shortly after that when Guerrero tried to go from first to third and was cut down by 30 feet.
Rally over.
