Twenty minutes after the game was over, the Boston clubhouse was a pretty empty place. Most of the players were either out on the field, celebrating with fans, or elsewhere, after a quick champagne shower. Dustin Pedroia and Jed Lowrie were still doing interviews in the plastic-wrapped room, but no one was dumping bubbly on each other after the initial outburst. Injured Mike Lowell, who had been taken off the roster before the game, was smiling, talking with a reporter, and holding an unlit cigar.
Attendants appeared to be cleaning up. After two World Series titles in four years, including last year's, maybe they feel like they need to pace themselves.
It won't get easier. They face the Tampa Bay Rays next, a team that beat them 10 of 18 games in the regular season.
Of course, the Angels beat the Sox 8 of 9.
