Reliever Scott Proctor will undergo season-ending surgery to repair a partially torn flexor tendon and shave down a bone spur in the back of his right elbow.
Proctor was left off the National League Championship Series roster and a longshot to pitch again, so he elected to have the cleanup procedure done early on Wednesday entering a winter when he will once again be arbitration-eligible.
He entered the season figuring to be a workhorse like he had in previous years for Joe Torre, but ended up missing more than two months during with the season with the ligament tear.
