With a chance to reach the World Series for the first time since 1981, the Dodgers played host to the New York Mets in Game 6 of the 1988 National League Championship Series.

The Dodgers came into the game with a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series but Mets outfielder Kevin McReynolds had four hits, including a double and home run, and drove in three runs and David Cone scattered five hits in a complete-game victory as the Mets forced Game 7 with a 5-1 victory.
