Chargers go in front, 24-19

Carolina took a 19-10 lead on Kasay's fourth field goal, a 49-yarder with 10:09 left in the game.

But Philip Rivers' rollout pass to Antonio Gates cut it to 19-17, after Nate Kaeding's PAT. Gates beat Na'il Diggs pretty convincingly on the play.

San Diego then got a huge break when D.J. Hackett fumbled after the catch and Luis Castillo recovered at the Carolina 28. (Antoine Cason caused the fumble, which stood up even after the Panthers challenged the ruling, claiming Hackett was down.)

Seven plays later, Rivers found Vincent Jackson in the end zone for a 24-19 lead with 2:27 to play, after Kaeding's extra point.
