Waters Shuts Out Angels, 3-0

Chris Waters took his turn as starters making their major-league debuts to shut down the Angels.

Joining Boston's Justin Masterson, Atlanta's Charlie Morton and Texas' Matt Harrison, who combined held the Angels to six runs and 12 hits in 19 innings, all in their debuts, Waters one-upped them.

He held the Angels to one hit in eight innings in Baltimore's 3-0 win.

"It's totally different when you step in the box, it doesn't matter what the scouting reports say," Torii Hunter said. "His arm angle was different, the ball movement is different than in words."

What made Waters so effective against a team that had been averaging 6.5 runs per game since the All-Star break?

"He was making adjustments," Hunter said. "Our second time up, he started throwing change-ups. The third time he brought the slider out."
