Brad Penny has an increase in scar tissue in the front part of his right shoulder that appears to be impinging on the rotator cuff tendon, causing inflammation and irritation. He won't begin throwing until at least Tuesday, and Joe Torre said he wouldn't be surprised if Penny were lost for the season.
