Dodgers open to trading the "kids"

Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti will be looking for a shortstop among other things before the July 31 non-waiver trading deadline, and the team is willing to adjust its philosophy of keeping their young players off-limits.

"We're more open-minded to who we may have to move," Colletti said.

Asked if he were referring to the young players, Colletti said, "They're not really young kids anymore."

Colletti's comments echoed what owner Frank McCourt told me earlier in the week when asked about the possibility of trading some of the kids. He said the ones they will hold onto are "the ones who are prepared to put in the work, listen to coaches and get better every day." The kids who they would be willing to part with are "the ones that can't do those things."

You could have saved yourself from writing all of that and just wrote what Ned really meant to say..."I have no idea what I'm doing" Especially since he just contradicted everything he said in the Q&A you posted a couple of days ago. Our team is being ran by a bunch of fools.

I dont mean to come to the defense of Colletti and crew....but....the same people that bash them constantly are the same people (I'm sure) that wanted to give up on the '06 season just before the trade deadline.

I know it didnt work out in the playoffs but I'm glad these people werent making the decisions.

Ned has had two trades work out in his two seasons here. The Ethier deal and the Maddux deal. The rest crashed and burned worse then Hindenburg. Ned doesn't know what he is doing. Also, today there was a report that the Dodgers have entered the C.C. Sabathia sweepstakes. Just what the best pitching staff in the NL needs another pitcher! Give me a break. This guy is a joke. He was the 6th choice for our GM position when he was hired. Everyone else took their name out of consideration because they all recognized how big of an idiot McCourt is.

I don't even want to bring up his free agent history. It is just simply too depression to look at.

Great! Here's to using the same formula that has brought us zero playoff series wins in 20 years! Cheers!
