Erick Aybar, out since May 21, will have his dislocated right pinkie examined on Monday and could be cleared to begin swinging a bat. Manager Mike Scioscia said Aybar will need "five or six good workouts under his belt" before beginning a rehab assignment.

However, with the way Maicer Izturis has played lately - superb defensively and six multi-hit games in his past seven starts - what will the Angels do with their shortstop situation? After all, Aybar had started 39 straight games at shortstop when he was injured.

"We're going to have a lot more options to give guys rest and look at matchups," Scioscia said. "We'll have a lot more options than we had the last couple weeks."

The answer is YES! Put Aybar back in at short and put Izzy at 3rd until Figgy gets back.
