Dodgers, Rockies Fight....

Dodgers CF Matt Kemp and Rockies C Yorvit Torrealba got into a fight in the eighth inning tonight when Torrealba, who was sent to the dirt on a pitch in the top of the inning, tried to pick up a third strike in the dirt and the two got tangled and then got into the fight. Both benches cleared and two two had to be restrained.

Here is what Kemp said...

"It was out of frustration," Kemp said. "We were losing the game and it was stupid, really stupid. It was not a good decision on my part but it happened and we have to deal with whatever happens after it.

"It was dumb on both of our parts. It's not an excuse to act like that. It is frustrating and it is two teams who are losing and are trying to grind it out. Everyone hates to lose and it showed right there.

"I'm not used to acting in that way. It's not in my character."

Torrealba refused to comment on the fight but here is what Manager Clint Hurdle said...

"Basically, he just took a stand," Rockies manager Clint Hurdle said. "He wasn't going to get pushed around, plain and simple. I think if you've played this game for a while, if somebody pushes you in front of 38,000 people, I think he acted pretty appropriately.

"He was trying to make a play. I've seen it happen 100 times in this game, where the catcher's just trying to move the runner out of the way so he can get the ball. It's the first time I've seen a runner take that kind of offense to it."
