After Friday night's battering by the Chipper Jones-less Braves, the Angels find themselves putting three best-in-MLB streaks on the line tonight against an Atlanta team making its first interleague visit to Anaheim. With wins in eight straight series, and in their last eight straight interleague series, the Angels enjoy two best-in-baseball runs. Their 16-3-3 record in the last 22 series is also an MLB best. Lose tonight (6:05, FSN in HD) and all that streaking is done for now. The good news is that the Angels trot out RHP Ervin Santana (8-2, 3.01 ERA) against the Braves RHP Charlie Morton in his major league debut. There's also this. The Angels will have leadoff hitter Chone Figgins, who got on base three times Friday in his return-from-DL debut (single, two walks) while Chipper Jones and his .414 batting averag is day-to-day after getting hit in the left eye in batting practice before Friday's game and being scratched for a CT scan that proved negative. |
