When Jose Arredondo entered Monday's game in the eighth inning, it raised eyebrows that the rookie had displaced Scot Shields as the primary setup man the same way he has replaced Justin Speier in the bullpen hierarchy. Rather Shields injured his left oblique warming up before Saturday's game - in which he threw a perfect inning - and has kept his activities at a minimum. "In two days it's really gone down a lot," Shields said. "I went to play catch on Sunday and it was aggravating me. As hard as it was I said I better take a couple days (off) rather than miss eight weeks." |
