It'll be a familiar figure on the mound against them in Seattle tonight (7:10, FSN West) when the first-place Angels start a six-game road swing through the division in Seattle. Opposing Ervin Santana (7-2, 3.09 ERA) will be ex-Angels stalwart, lefty Jarrod Washburn (2-6, 6.54) who, like most of the rest of the Mariners this season, hasn't had a smooth time of it. For the Angels, whose 16-11 road record is better than their home mark of 18-13, this isn't a bad swing as road trips go. They get to stay in the Pacific Time Zone. And they get a day off Thursday. And they head out a season-high 3.5 games ahead of second-place Oakland, a team that has lost ground despite the Angels' monthlong hitting woes. The Angels finish there with three weekend games Friday through Sunday after Joe Saunders (8-2, 2.76) and Jered Weaver (4-5, 4.76) close out Tuesday and Wednesday. The Wednesday game is an afternoon one, starting at 1:40. |
