Casey Kotchman was not in the starting lineup against A's left-hander Greg Smith and was fairly upset about it. "I'm 25 years old," he said. "I don't need a day off." Kotchman and Garret Anderson were given the day off against Smith, who has limited left-handed hitters to a .167 batting average, fourth in the American League. Here is today's lineup: Izturis - SS Garland - P 2 CommentsLeave a comment |

I don't blame Casey for being irked. I am too. Scioscia is either coddling Casey too much or doesn't believe stats. Casey is our best hitter against lefties. I wish I could say how well Casey does against Greg Smith but Casey didn't get to play in the game he pitched in. Of course, Casey is only getting the day off to keep him fresh, right.
I hope we win this game. I don't like seeing Casey out of the lineup ever. We need his gold glove defense. Quinlan isn't garbage but he also isn't Casey. And by having Quinlan at first it means Brandon Wood at third. I'm sure Brandon will start hitting soon but right now we don't have to luxury of having him in the lineup.
I hope Howie and Vlad start getting hot. Without Izzy's homers we'd be getting nothing from the top of the lineup. I'm really getting tired of such boring offense. Can someone just wake them all up?
