Maicer Itzuris led off the game with a home run, doing so for the second consecutive day. Yesterday he did it left-handed and today he did it right-handed. Izturis became the first major-league player to accomplish the consecutive homers to lead off a game since Alfonso Soriano did it May 13-14 this season. Izturis became the first Angel to do it since Rex Hudler on May 20-21, 1996. He became the first switch-hitter to hit one from both sides of the plate since Philadelphia's Jimmy Rollins on Sept. 25-26, 2005. Izturis was the first Angels' player to do that. 5 CommentsLeave a comment |

Why is Izzy being wasted as a leadoff hitter? I didn't like it before he hit the two homers because he always seems to hit better with RISP. I really didn't like seeing Mathis get picked off after walking. Of course the next inning Izzy got a hit which could have knocked Quinlan in if he got to bat earlier.
It sure does look like Greg Smith is balking. I noticed his foot starts off pointed toward home and then swivels to first. He has to be balking.
I hope Garland can keep up his great pitching. A 2-0 lead is only good if Garland does his job. Lets sweep these kids and show them who owns the AL West.
These A's sure are cheaters. First Smith and his balks. Now Kurt Suzuki just spun around and got hit by a pitch but he came into the ball. How about moving away from the ball? It wasn't close to hitting him until he spun into it. They need to watch these guys.
Mathis just doesn't want Izturis to bat with anyone on base. First he gets picked off and then he watches three strikes. We need better offense from the catcher. Sure defense is big but we also need them to hit. Can we DH for the catcher and let the pitchers bat?
The A's sure caught a break in the 6th. Matthews just beat the play at second. It was dumb to go to second though. The ump couldn't see the play. Why don't they get in better position to see the whole play?
someone tell Juan Rivera not to complain about the strikezone please. I can just see the ump squeezing Garland if the Angel hitters do that. It isn't a huge strikezone but it is definitely a good one for Garland facing the A's.
