Angels Hit, But Weaver Hit Harder

Just when the Angels' offense comes alive, they're pitching goes south.

Buoyed over this recent offensive ineptitude by stellar pitching, Jered Weaver allowed six runs on eight hits in 6 1/3 innings of a 9-6 loss on Monday.

The Mets' Carlos Beltran hit two homers off Weaver, who slipped in another inconsistent outing. Weaver was coming off a sterling eight-inning, one-run effort last week against Tampa Bay, but allowed four runs in the first three innings and then left in the seventh with two on.

As for the offense, well they went 6 for 13 with runners in scoring position and scored more than five runs for just the second time in 26 games, however it was all for naught.

In two separate innings they ran themselves into outs, Maicer Izturis getting thrown out trying to go to second in the first inning. And in the fourth, Vladimir Guerrero got caught in a rundown between third and home for an out and Casey Kotchman was tagged out going to third on Howie Kendrick's single.

It ruined a rally and may have prevented a win.
