Reggie Willits was recalled from Class AAA after Thursday's game and Matt Brown - who collected his first major-league hit - was sent down. Willits seems an odd choice considering the Angels already have a glut of outfielders, but it could be for more than bench help. It could be for lineup help. Willits could be the team's new No. 2 hitter, the sparkplug replacing Gary Matthews Jr. and his .229 average there. "What Reggie did last year showed he can hit first, second or ninth," Scioscia said. "As long as he's in that grouping before the middle of the lineup. We'll see how he works in." |
