Andy LaRoche was reinstated from the 15-day disabled list and optioned to Class AAA Las Vegas, meaning Blake DeWitt and Russell Martin will handle third base until Nomar Garciaparra returns.

Joe Torre said he wasn't sure what the plan is for Martin, who is starting at third for a second straight day. It could be that Martin will start against left-handed pitchers (Jeff Francis last night and Jorge De La Rosa are lefties).

In other news on everybody's favorite catcher, Martin expressed his desire to play for Team Canada in the 2009 World Baseball Classic, meaning he could miss a chunk of spring training next year.
