Dodgers injury updates

Andruw Jones conceded that he has been feeling discomfort in his right knee for "a while" now, declining to say for how long, and he didn't dispel the idea that it could be the reason for his troubles at the plate. Jones has been collapsing his back leg while swinging. "Whether the bad habit sort of caused (the cartilage tear) or the injury caused him to (collapse his back leg), it's the chicken or the egg with that one," Manager Joe Torre said. "I'm guessing there has to be a connection." Trainer Stan Conte said it is more likely that the cartilage tear, usually the result of twisting and turning motions, came because of gradual wear and tear and said the Dodgers had previously done examinations that didn't reveal anything at that time. The fluid from swelling in the knee has also caused a cyst to form behind his knee.

Nomar Garciaparra went in for a battery of test today, and it's still unknown what that entails.

Esteban Loaiza will likely need another rehabilitation outing over the weekend before he comes back.

Gary Bennett could be back from plantar fascitis right after the 15 days are up, but the discomfort could linger.
