If the Angels win tonight, it will be the seventh straight series they've either tied or won. Pretty impressive considering how many injuries they've dealt with. It will be in the hands of 21-year-old Nick Adenhart, making his second career start. This one will be on normal rest and the team hopes much better than his first. In that one, last Thursday, Adenhart walked five batters and lasted just two innings in an eventual 15-8 loss. He walked four batters in a row at one point in the second inning, throwing 16 of 18 pitches for balls. Adenhart carried a 4-0 record and 0.87 ERA from Class AAA to the majors, but he also carried a propensity to walk a lot of batters. He walked 15 in 31 minor league innings this season and has walked a batter almost once every three innings in his professional career. "It's something I'm conscious of," he said. "My problem is unnecessary walks. It's been a problem the last couple years. It's a work in progress." |
