A little 9th-inning drama didn't keep the Angels from winning the four-game series against the Twins with a 5-4 victory on Thursday afternoon. After Jason Kubel's solo homer in the eighth cut the Angels' lead to one, Francisco Rodriguez walked Matt Tolbert with one out in the ninth. After striking out Carlos Gomez, and throwing a wild pitch in the process that put Tolbert on second, Rodriguez intentionally-walked Joe Mauer to bring up Michael Cuddyer. Working with a 3-1 count, Rodriguez lofted a slider over the plate for strike two and then got Cuddyer swinging on a pitch in the dirt to end the game. |
