Santana's Pay Cut
Ervin Santana was the only Angels’ player whose contract was renewed after the right-hander rejected the team’s offer believed to be $430,000 after he made $425,000 last year.
After going 7-14 with a 5.76 ERA and getting sent to the minors last season, the Angels just renewed Santana for a reported $420,000. The team has the option of renewing a player for the major-league minimum of $390,000 or anything above that.
“I’m here, that’s all I can tell you,” said Santana, who claimed he had no idea about the pay cut. “I’m fine.”
