Nomar not going to China
Nomar Garciaparra and Mark Sweeney have been removed from the roster for the two-game exhibition series against the Padres later this week in China. Garciaparra has a swollen right hand, and Sweeney has a sore left knee. For now, minor leaguer Kevin Howard will be added, as the travel squad heads out to China on a flight Wednesday.

Blake DeWitt clearly is up for depth only; there is no way he is a major-league ready bat with only 71 games at his highest minor-league level (AA) without much success (.281 .306 .466 last year, 45 G, 187 PAs). Great experience for him to be in major-league camp.

bummer....I'm going to those games this weekend and was hoping to see Nomar play. wish they could have replaced him with Public Enemy #1 or James Loney. At least Matt Kemp will be there.

Hope the Dodger players bring plenty of anti-biotics and oxygen masks. The air pollution is mighty bad in Beijing.
