Colletti on Pierre
He knows I like him.
I think he's a strong asset for the team.
The criticism from a year ago was wrong.
He's a championship-type player.

"The criticism from a year ago was wrong."
Ned, if so, then why sign Andruw Jones to play the same position?

Fire Ned Colletti.

My goodness. "Fire Ned Colletti." Yeah, why not? Then let's shoot all the players over age 29 because, y'know, they're veterans, and if they're not dead Colletti will be in danger of re-signing more--GASP--veteran players.
Seriously, what is Colletti supposed to say here? "Yeah, Juan's terrible, my bad?" Juan Pierre is the fifth-best outfielder on the Dodgers, it's true--fifth, assuming Repko goes down and Kemp/Jones/Ethier/Young are all on the 25 man--but the Pierre signing is one mistake. One. And while he's expensive, the guy's not significantly worse than Bryan Myrow, Norihiro Nakamura, Oscar Robles, Jason Phillips or Hee Seop Choi.
Might we--pray--give it a rest? Pierre's an un-ideal starting outfielder. Something Colletti himself tacitly acknowledges by bringing in a better one to supplant one. None of this is a firing offense, it really isn't.

Looks like Mr. Quilty learned his lesson about falling in love with kids. Pity. Still, I suppose someone has to dance with Mrs. Haze--better him than me.
