Start times

Today's 3:00 Eastern start for the Chargers-Patriots and 6:30 for New York at Green Bay make sense only in the world of TV -- which has been the driving force of the NFL for 50 years, make no mistake.
Why have football players on the field earlier in the day in January when the sun is out when you can catch viewers later in the day at home, ready to vegetate for the night?
If they have to play a night game in Green Bay in the middle of winter -- so what? -- as long as the game hits prime time in New York City.
