Injury report

Four Chargers sat out practice today. Both inside linebackers were absent, Stephen Cooper with a neck injury and Erik Wilhelm with a return of the calf problems that kept him out of most of the preseason. Offensive tackle Shane Olivea underwent rehab on his lower back, injured Sunday against New England, and safety Clinton Hart has a hamstring problem.

Wilhelm underwent an MRI Monday that showed no tears. But head coach Norv Turner said that of all the players who are questionable, Wilhelm is the biggest concern.

"I can understand where he's coming from," Wilhelm said. "It's not something we take lightly.

"It's just frustrating. Right now I'm mentally prepared for what Green Bay has to offer offensively. It’s day to day, and if the time comes where I have to step up and play, I’m more than ready to do so. If not, I know our young guys are ... going to be prepared to do the job."

Nose tackle Jamal Williams, whose availability was in question because of an elbow injury, participated in the entire practice Wednesday and said he's good to go.

"I should" play Sunday, he said, "thanks to the help of the guys in the training room. They put in some overtime for me."

Jim,
I just noticed your blog. Thanks for the info. I've read your work on the Chargers for the past year, and you are the most level headed reporter that covers the team. Please continue to give us great information!

Thanks for the update.

Matt Wilhelm is the Charger ILB. Maybe Eric is his brother?

Why does the PE shove all this Chargers stuff down our throats?! Looking at bumper stickers and going in sports bars shows it loud and clear that this is RAIDER territory!
Where is the Raider blog on this web site? Just the whining Chargers and this nfl one.
Kiffin has remade the Raiders and we're coming back. The running game is really on track and will get better for the Charger game when Rhodes is eligible to play. McCown showed guts playing with injury the past three weeks but it looks like Culpepper for Miami.
