Taking the night off

Besides LaDainian Tomlinson -- who won't play in any exhibitions -- five other Chargers didn't suit up for Sunday night's game. Starting inside linebacker Matt Wilhelm is out with a calf injury, and receiver Eric Parker will be out for another two months or so with a broken toe.

The others not playing are safety Miguel Merrick, guard Erik Robertson and tight end T.J. Cottrell -- and yes, that's the son of defensive coordinator Ted Cottrell.

(Incidentally, Shaun Alexander, Tomlinson's Seattle counterpart -- and the guy whose touchdown record LT broke last year -- is playing for the Seahawks.)
