Chargers beef up secondary
San Diego traded up in the second round to select Eric Weddle, who is the definition of versatility. Utah's Web site says the Alta Loma native played strong safety, cornerback, nickel back, quarterback, returned punts, punted, held for the field goal kicker and played safety on the kickoff coverage teams. He also played excellent defense against Calvin Johnson during the 2005 Emerald Bowl.
Also, USC wide receiver Dwayne Jarrett was drafted in the middle of the second round, where he will play next to the other Steve Smith.
