While we're speculating ...

He's not necessarily someone who might squeeze in at the bottom of the Chargers head coaching guess list but Norm Chow would certainly be a candidate as offensive coordinator. Chow is the former offensive guru at BYU and USC before his current post in Tennessee in charge of developing Vince Young into the most dangerous specimen on a pro football field. Chow, of course, also spent a year at North Carolina State, giving first collegiate impressions to one Philip Rivers, the Chargers starting quarterback. A Chow-Rivers reunion would make for a joyous day in Chargersland. If you want to imagine what Chow might do with the uber-talented Chargers offense, just think back and imagine the USC Orange Bowl offensive destruction of a dumbfounded Oklahoma defense that, to this day, still doesn't know what hit them. Imagine Antonio Gates making one-handed grabs 40-yards up the seam as Dominique Byrd did or LT expanding his repertoire -- is that even possible? -- and Rivers hitting and rapidly surpassing potential? Chow as OC would be a wonderful thing. As coach, well, based on what?
