The Eagles: the highlights

1. Don Henley always seems to be wearing a flannel shirt. I bet he has a closet full of them and they all look alike. I think he also consulted John Fogerty on wardrobe choices, because he was also wearing a flannel shirt. It's very country. And western. Well, Pacific Northwestern.

2. Wow, the Eagles sound AMAZING. The harmonies were spot on.

3. Baby boomer couples really like to dance to the Eagles. Slowly, with turns.

4. Joe Walsh is awesome.

5. Glenn Frey better get some extra money since Henley got to do two solo songs, Walsh got to do three and Frey got ZERO. Timothy B. Schmit also got zero, but I can't think of a single solo song he did.

6. Everyone owns at least one Eagles album--even if it's just the Greatest Hits. That's because it's good, accessible music.

7. Country fans love them, rock fans love them, 5-year-olds twirling around in cowgirl gear love them. They cross genre and age barriers. See number 6.

8. Everyone seems to have co-produced "Long Road Out of Eden," if you believe Glenn Frey during the band introductions.

9. Joe Walsh is so invited to my next party. I'll make sure that even when it's 4, he can find the door.

10. Horn sections make EVERYTHING better, like handclaps.

11. It's hard to play drums and sing at the same time. I can't even do it in "Rock Band," so I have no clue how Don Henley does it for real. Kudos to you, Don. Kudos to you.

12. It's going to be hard for anyone to top this all weekend.
