Lately I've been getting in some really good music, so I think it's time for a new feature here at the Audio File: Now Hear This. I'm trying to keep it pretty simple--this feature will be for music that catches my attention that I want the world (or at least my tiny little corner of the blogosphere) to hear. So let's kick it off with a really solid indie rock band from Los Angeles that has a midwestern name: You Me & Iowa.
Special to The Press-Enterprise
Los Angeles indie rockers You Me & Iowa jump for joy. They should, because they're really good and jumping jacks equal awesomeness. I also wonder how many times they had to do this shot to get it just right.
The band's second disc, "The Adventues of You Me & Iowa," came out last week and there's a CD release party at Club Spaceland on May 24. The two songs I've heard off the new disc, "Dress the Stage" and "Valhalla," remind me a little bit of early Death Cab for Cutie, but on anti-depressants. Check out "Dress the Stage." But so far, what is really hooking me is the bass work. "Runways and Freeways" is really great. There's something that reminds me of Built to Spill meets the Dismemberment Plan in there. I can't wait to hear more. If you're in a band or know one that you want to see in Now Hear This, shoot me an e-mail at vfranko@PE.com. Give me a song suggestion or two, or shoot me a link to an mp3 everyone can enjoy. 1 CommentsLeave a comment |

Great band. The CD artwork is crazy.
I plan to get to the CD release show next weekend at Spaceland.
