Welcome to Now Hear This, the newest Audio File feature bringing good music to the fine people who read this blog. Today we have LoveLikeFire, a Bay Area band that has a touch of Arcade Fire and Stars to its sound.
Special to The Press-Enterprise
LoveLikeFire, from San Francisco, will rock your face off, but not in a heavy metal kind of way, in Costa Mesa this week.
You can stream the band's latest EP, "An Ocean In The Air," for free. The band also offers up two tracks for free download--"From a Tower" and "Unlighted Shadow," among the best on the disc, so we should all blow them a big kiss in gratitude. I can't quite put my finger on Ann Yu's voice, but I really like it. I think the band's strength is in the uptempo numbers, such as the aforementioned "From a Tower" and "Unlighted Shadow," as well as "S.O.S." In August LoveLikeFire heads to Tiny Telephone Studios to a full-length with producer Bill Racine, who did Rogue Wave's most excellent debut. (FYI, Rogue Wave is playing in Orange County later this week as well, more details on the way). Here's some good news for those who are digging LoveLikeFire--you can check them out at Detroit Bar in Costa Mesa Tuesday night.
