Gentle on the ears

Glen Campbell interspersed Jimmy Webb-written hits with newer material on the Palomino Stage on Friday night, performing for a singalong crowd. Numbers such as "Gentle on My Mind" and "By the Time I Get to Phoenix" got big responses.

Campbell had big backup: two electric guitars and an acoustic, a banjo, two drummers, keyboard and a couple of Tanya Tucker-looking singers.

He wore a shirt with rhinestones, and went he wrapped up with "Southern Nights" and "Rhinestone Cowboy" it was a pungent whiff of pure '70s.
