Riverside Aquatics Association had three swimmers participate in the La Jolla Rough Water Swim September 7.The La Jolla Rough Water Swim is the oldest rough water swim in the United States that was started in 1916. The swimmers bear the cold ocean water, contact swimming and long distances. Many of the young swimmers that swam the junior event had to overcome large swells in the ocean and crashing waves. This is also the largest rough water swim in the U.S. with over 2000 swimmers participating. Riverside's own Kilohi Chun 11, competed in the 250 yard junior event and completed it in 5 minutes 11 seconds, finishing 13th in his age group. Nathan Ketcheside 9, also competed in the 250 yard junior event. He completed it it in 5 minutes and 29 seconds, and finished 8th in his age group. Miles Veasey 16, competed in the 1 mile event and did an amazing job of completing it in 23 minutes and 21 seconds. He finished 16th in his age group.
