Outfielder Carl Uhl, drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 49th round, did not sign and is expected to return to UCR next season, coach Doug Smith said.

Uhl, a junior, led UCR in steals (23) and runs scored (54) and hit .272. He will play summer ball in Alaska. The deadline for signing a pro contract is Aug. 15.

The Highlanders' three incoming high school players that were drafted - Eddie Young (San Diego Christian), Matt Andriese (Redlands East Valley High), Robert Brantly (Temecula Chaparral) - did not sign pro contracts and are also expected to join the team this fall.
