UCLA no longer recruiting Jasper

3:32 PM Sun, Jun 15, 2008 | | Comments (0)
Posted by: Jeff Eisenberg

I spoke to Derrick Jasper's ex-high school coach Scott Larson this afternoon, and he said that UCLA seems to have cooled on the Kentucky transfer. Neither Larson nor Jasper have heard from UCLA since the preliminary conversations they had when the sophomore guard received his release from Kentucky several weeks ago.
Jasper is visiting UNLV this weekend, but will also consider San Diego, San Diego State and Arizona, all schools that have a scholarship open and are recruiting Jasper as a point guard according to Larson. That UCLA seems to have lost interest in Jasper likely means that they've decided they'd rather use that scholarship on a high school guard in the class of 2009 such as Avery Bradley, Abdul Gaddy, Elijah Johnson, or Moreno Valley Rancho Verde's Mike Snaer.
