UCR sophomore Brenda Martinez advanced to the 800-meter semifinals with a time of 2:04.11 at the Olympic Trials in Eugene, Ore.

Martinez finished fifth in her heat. The seminfinals are Saturday, with 16 runners competing for the final eight spots in Monday's final.
