UCLA polo.jpegYes, those crazy basketball jerseys with the yellow Cs are now officially out-of-date as the UCLA women's water polo team defeated USC, 6-3, Sunday night to deliver national title No. CI to Westwood. That's No. 101 for those of you who don't know your roman numerals past whatever Super Bowl were on.
Tanya Gandy scored a pair of goals and Courtney Mathewson, Gabrielle Domanic, Anne Belden and Priscilla Orozco netted one apiece as UCLA jumped out to a 5-1 lead. The Bruins clinched their fourth consecutive national championship and their second undefeated season in the past four years.
For those already looking ahead to No. 102, the Bruins have a couple more chances this spring. The No. 3 seeded men's tennis team and No. 7 women's tennis team each advanced to the Round of 16 with 4-0 victories over the weekend, while the UCLA softball team will enter the tournament as the No. 2 seed.
