Source: LSU to grant Morgan's release

Less than a month after the departure of Kevin Love appeared to leave UCLA shorthanded at center, the Bruins are in position to land the ideal replacement.
A source close to J'Mison Morgan said LSU will release the 6-foot-11 center from his letter of intent today, eliminating the last potential obstacle preventing him from landing at UCLA.
Morgan originally chose LSU over UCLA, Kansas and Alabama last November but began having second thoughts once the Tigers fired longtime coach John Brady in February. The Dallas South Oak Cliff High senior asked for a release from his letter of intent last week, telling the Dallas Morning News that UCLA was "a better fit."
Reached by phone Monday night, both AAU coach Jazzy Hartwell and Dallas South Oak Cliff coach James Mays declined comment. A UCLA spokesman said he could not comment because the school has yet to receive Morgan's release.
The addition of Morgan would fill a position of need for UCLA, which has been scouring the globe in a last-ditch effort to find a center to add to its guard-heavy 2008 recruiting class. While Morgan isn't the polished offensive player that Love was, he averaged 13.5 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocked shots as a senior and is considered one of the top high school centers in the country.
