No Morgan, now what?

With LSU signee J'Mison Morgan no longer an option for UCLA, the Bruins must turn elsewhere to bolster their front court depth prior to next season. Forward James Keefe and incoming freshman Drew Gordon are the only two big men certain to be Bruins next year, with Luc Richard Mbah a Moute having declared for the draft and Alfred Aboya pondering forgoing his senior year to attend grad school.
UCLA coach Ben Howland is exploring adding a center to his guard-heavy 2008 class, but the options aren't exactly plentiful this late in the recruiting period. Pepperdine transfer Malcolm Thomas is also an option, but he is a forward and could not fill UCLA's need at center.

even if we did get malcolm thomas wouldn't he have to sit out next year?

Yes, that's correct. Malcolm Thomas wouldn't be eligible until the 2009-10 season.

Since J'Mison is not asking for a release from his LOI....what is the latest with Ater Majok? Last I read he was going to do an official visit with UCLA.
Did he? Rivals.com just came out with their final class of 2008 rankings and reclassified Majok as a 5 star rated player. Being a 5 star player he obviously has game and at 6-10 he could definitely help with the Bruins lack of size next year. Please tell me good news.

I can't give you too much good news on Majok because at this point he's a long shot. This weekend he's scheduled to visit Connecticut, which is his most likely destination. UCLA is trying to get him to visit officially, but I'm not sure whether that will happen or not. Majok appears to be by far UCLA's best short-term option outside of Morgan having a change of heart, but certainly the staff is exploring plenty of backup plans.
