Diamond notes

- The Dodgers have signed pitchers Roberto Hernandez and Rick Bauer and assigned them to Class AAA Las Vegas.

- A foul ball hit down the left-field line sent three Dodger employees scattering, including Grady Little and Stan Conte. The other? Jason Repko.

- Joe Beimel is back and apparently healthy. Asked by doctors if he had drank alcohol, he noted it was the nine-month anniversary of his sobriety. For now, he won't be able to have caffeine or sports nutritional supplements. "I'll just add it to the stuff I can't take," he said.

- Rafael Furcal won't get any days off in advance of the All-Star break to rest his ankle. "You want to give him a day off? Four days might be too much for him," Little said.

- Star Wars fan Randy Wolf brought a Darth Vader cookie jar to his locker in order to ward off bad vibes.

- The blister on Brad Penny's index finger might cause him to pitch less in the All-Star game.

- Apparently, that wasn't newly signed Jose Dominguez that struck out seven in two innings for the GCL Dodgers the other day. It was actually Kelvin Dominguez.

so if that wasn't Jose Dominguez, where is Jose Dominguez? Is he actually in the states on the GCL roster or still in the Dominican on the Dodgers DSL team?
