Second accident adds to traffic woes on I-10

A second accident involving a big-rig on westbound Interstate 10 has further snarled traffic in San Bernardino County.

At least one lane was closed as a result of the second accident, which happened around 8:30 a.m. near the Ford Street exit in Redlands. Earlier, a semi-truck hauling fruit hit a motorcycle at about 3 a.m. on the 10 near Mountain View Avenue in San Bernardino.

According to the California Highway Patrol's traffic incident Web site, the collision involved a red Honda sedan and a big-rig. All lanes were open by about 9 a.m., the CHP reports. No further information was immediately available.

There were only minor injuries in the earlier collision, but the semi jacknifed and blocked all westbound lanes, San Bernardino County Fire and California Highway Patrol officials said.

The two innermost lanes were reopened about 6:30 p.m., CHP Officer Dereek Williams said. The remaining lanes were likely to be blocked for two or three more hours, he said.
