A bicyclist was killed in a collision with a vehicle in downtown Riverside, and authorities sought witnesses to help them piece together the events surrounding the accident.
The 61-year-old woman was turning her bike onto University Avenue from Fairmount Boulevard around 11 a.m. Tuesday when she was struck by a car traveling westbound on University, according to Riverside police spokesman Steve Frasher.
The victim, identified by Frasher as a transient, was transported to Riverside Community Hospital, where she died a short time later, he said.
The 19-year-old man behind the wheel was not arrested, but the investigation was continuing, Frasher said.
He said police were ``actively seeking any witnesses’’ to the collision.
Anyone with relevant information was encouraged to contact Riverside police Detective Joe Avila at 951-353-7985.
