Police today searched for a man who robbed a thrift store in Palm Desert.

The holdup at the Angel View Thrift Mart at 73468 Highway 111 occurred around 5:45 p.m. yesterday, Palm Desert police Sgt. Terrence Tingle said.

The man "brandished a handgun or an object that appeared to be a handgun" inside the store and made an employee give him money from a cash register before fleeing, Tingle said.

The robber did not confront any of the store’s customers, and no one was hurt during the holdup, he said.

Palm Desert police officers along with a police dog searched the area minutes after the robbery occurred, but no immediate arrests were made, Tingle said.

Officers interviewed several customers who were in the store during the robbery and also collected physical evidence, he added.

The robber, who was wearing a light colored mask or bag over his face, was described as slim and tall.

Anyone with information on the case was asked to call the Palm Desert Police Department at 760-836-1600.
