A Norco man pleaded guilty to murder in connection with the death of a San Jacinto man who was attacked at a jail in French Valley.

Shaun Allen Wachter’s plea was made March 11 and he was sentenced to 58 years in prison, said prosecutor John Davis.

Joseph Anthony Perez, 36, died Oct. 7, 2004, after he was repeatedly kicked and hit with a heavy plastic container inside the Southwest Detention Center in French Valley, according to court records.

In November, Wachter, 28, was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole in connection with a separate carjacking case.
