Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison was joined by supporters in Dallas this afternoon to announce she's raised $6.7 million for her primary battle since January. Her campaign cash-on-hand now stands at $12.5 million, eclipsing Governor Rick Perry's $9.3 million.

She did not formally announce her candidacy, but announced she will announce the candidacy - officially - in August.

"The campaign for governor of Texas is open for business," she said, through an audio buzz in her livestream. (Clean audio on the newscast tonight at 6pm.)

The campaign points out these tidbits:

6,500 donors in 231counties
Almost 80% of the contributions in the amount of $500 or less
98% of the money raised is from Texas with nearly 1,000 online donors

There's too much politics in Texas to fit into a newscast, so the fun continues here.
