Texas Republican Party Chair Tina Benkiser sent out a copy of the speech she'll give today during Tax Day rallies across the nation, intended to protest the growth of government and government spending. (Natch, there's a lot of poking fun at teabagging going on, here's a clearing house for that stuff.) The tea parties in Austin are set for 11:30 at Austin City Hall and again at 4pm this afternoon near Town Lake. Governor Rick Perry, who's being simultaneously loved and lampooned for his anti-Washington stance, will appear at both rallies. George Orwell's Animal Farm presents a great picture of what happens when hogs take control of the farm. Well, Texans know a little about farming. They know that you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, and they recognize bull. Yet for years many Washington politicians have hidden billions of dollars of pork in bloated federal budgets then told us that it's for our own good. Now, they don't even try to hide it. Well, Washington D.C., we're not buying your pork or bull. The rest of her remarks after the jump. Patriotism is not the current Obama-Pelosi-Reid spending frenzy that robs the American worker, compromises our children's future, and fails to stimulate anything but the out-of-control growth of government. The Democrat-led oppressive Economic Suicide Plan rewards failure, laziness and dependence; and it discourages hard work, saving and investment. In 1994, Republicans won a majority in Congress promising fiscal restraint and taxpayer protection. In 2006 and 2008, voters told Washington D.C. that they had run out of patience. Yet, the change they wanted did not include declaring war on families, jobs, businesses and freedom. With its uncontrolled spending, Washington has now destroyed fiscal discipline. In fact, many politicians consider robbing us and re-distributing our tax dollars as a mark of leadership. To the contrary, real leadership knows that Americans make better decisions with their money than the government does. Real leadership is asking for only what you need to do the job that the Constitution actually empowers you to do. Republican leadership must hold fast to the core principle of fiscal discipline that has in the past distinguished our Party from tax-and-spend Democrats. When Republicans offer Americans a vision for smaller, more efficient, less burdensome government, we win. When our elected officials put that vision into practice, America wins. We are patriots! We know that the American dream becomes a reality only when Americans are allowed to keep more of the money they make and government is a good steward of the taxpayer money they take. Our founders were men of deep faith, and our founding documents reflect a reliance on God and an understanding that authority flows from Him. Inalienable rights are from God not man, and they cannot be taken away by man. We have the right to and must reign in government now. We've heard that every generation must learn to love, protect, and defend freedom. We are patriots, and our time is now! We do not bow to men or government. As our national symbol the mighty eagle soars high above the ground, let us rise to be worthy of the lofty ideals on which we the people established our government. Otherwise, let us tear with our talons every effort of those who despise and arrogantly flaunt our right to life, liberty and ultimately true freedom. 1 CommentsLeave a comment |

There's too much politics in Texas to fit into a newscast, so the fun continues here.

Yes, all patriotic Americans should be against taxes!
I saw where those dumb Europeans pay their government for health care! How Stupid!
They pay half what we do for health care and live over 3 years longer than our richest Americans.
Ain't we smart?...those stupid Europeans, we trust insurance companys like AIG to do the right thing...like take a trillion and run!
Roll back taxes!
