Ron Paul... and The Man Behind Borat

In the spirit of the ongoing SXSW Film Festival going on this week , I found some spoilers about Sascha Baron Cohen's new film, Bruno, starring another one of the comedians alter egos. The best part, perhaps, is the "insane cameo" by Texas Congressman Ron Paul. According to Slate magazine:

Ron Paul's appearance in Sacha Baron Cohen's upcoming Bruno movie suggests he draws the line at making sex tapes with gay Austrian TV hosts.

In a five-minute scene, comedian Cohen tries--and fails--to seduce the Texas congressman and former Republican presidential candidate in a Washington hotel room. A spokeswoman for Paul confirmed the appearance but declined to discuss details, which were provided by two people who attended a test screening last week.

Cohen, who creates the most hilarious and uncomfortable scenes at the same time (read: the naked fight betwixt Borat and his producer), is probably not going to disappoint. But with Ron Paul involved, I'll be lining up early to see Bruno.

And while we're on the subject-- political doc Along Came Kinky premieres tomorrow night, see you there.

After seeing this preview, it just validates one more reason why I've started to think that the slackjawed public deserve the future that they so desperately seem to want, and that they'll rightfully get.

There's too much politics in Texas to fit into a newscast, so the fun continues here.
