Formal Proceedings Against Judge Sharon Keller

execute.190.jpgThe Texas Commission on Judicial Conduct has initiated action against the presiding judge of the state's highest criminal court, Judge Sharon Keller. Keller, aka "Killer Keller," prompted widespread outrage after she closed the court office promptly at 5pm, denying a death row inmate an emergency appeal. The inmate, Michael Richard (seen left), wound up being the only person executed during a seven-month moratorium on executions initiated by the US Supreme Court. From the Commission:

The Commission voted to initiate formal proceedings against the judge who was the subject of your complaint. This process involves a public trial before a Special Master appointed by the Texas Supreme Court, after which findings of fact will be presented to the Commission. You will be notified in writing of the date, time and location of this trial. Based on the Report from the Special Master, the Commission may vote to dismiss the case, issue a public censure, or recommend to the Supreme Court that the judge be removed from office.
More to come, but I wanted to first spit this out there.

Judge Sharon Keller should not only be removed from office but put on trial for Murder. Until those responsible for executing the innocent, in the name of justice, are put on trial, then this obscene practice that degrades the fine United States will continue.

Anna Whitehouse said:

I am a little miffed at why Judge Keller is being held in anyway responsible for anything. I am positive the attorney's knew what time the court closed. Rules are for everybody, including convicted murderers.

There's too much politics in Texas to fit into a newscast, so the fun continues here.
