Late for an Update

Sorry, blog readers. I got called out today for leaving the "BREAKING" post up for the last three days, mainly because I'm suffering from my traditional post-election emotional hangover. Also, cause we got into a random car wreck on Veteran's Day (hit by a veteran, natch). Everyone's fine.

To bring you up to speed, the behind-the-scenes wrangling over House Speaker quietly continues, mostly out of sight. Lots of phone calls that we don't get to overhear. Where will the formerly Craddick D's land? How many Republican members agreed to the no-Craddick-under-any-circumstances pact? I'm hearing anywhere between eight and ten.

Meanwhile, former Austin Mayor, state comptroller and onetime independent candidate for governor Carole Keeton Strayhorn will be running for Austin Mayor again, according to The Quorum Report. She hinted as much back in May of this year, when I asked her about it in her front yard. The YouTube vid from May:
